Mosquito Control Service
What's Included?
Our Mosquito Control Service includes control of mosquitoes in your backyard or other agreed upon area. The treatment is applied to foliage, fences, and eaves in the area to be protected using a backpack mist blower. We use a pyrethroid insecticide that is effective at killing and repelling mosquitoes. The treatment is rain-fast at spray dry and can withstand around 1 inch of rain at a time.
The area treated will also work as a repellent for wasp nests and spiders.
How much is it?
Most yards are $109 plus tax per month. The service starts in April if the weather is warm enough for mosquitoes and stops in October.
We also offer a Budget Billing plan which spreads the total annual cost over the entire year and bills at $58 per month. A one year minimum agreement is required for Budget Billing.
One time services are $135+tax per treatment.
We can treat areas other than the backyard or months outside those normally treated upon request and agreed upon charges.
Is there a warranty?
This service should achieve a 90%+ reduction in mosquito bites for around 21 days. We will return as often as needed between visits, for no additional charge, if those results are not achieved. Keep in mind that, even with this service, you may see an occasional mosquito, but you should not see more than a few in any one evening.
Do I need to be home?
You do not need to be home for this service. We will email you 3 to 5 days before each service to let you know when we will be there.
How long does it take?
The service takes around 20 minutes.
How do I prepare for service?
For us to be able to do the service, make sure your lawn has been recently mowed and that all sprinklers are off during and for at least 1 hour after the service, all outside pets must be put up, outside clutter must be picked up, and there can't be any outside workers present. After the service, pets need to stay off the treated areas and people need to wear shoes in the treated areas for about 15 minutes or until the spray is dry.
How do I pay?
You will get an invoice by email immediately after service. You can pay online using a link in the email or you can pay the Technician with a credit card or check. We can securely store your credit card information for future services.
Do we have any special kind of treatment that we can put on the lawn for mosquitoes?
- We can't do a treatment for customers who live too close to the lake.
- There is not a granular insecticide that is effective against adult mosquitoes. There are some products that can be applied to standing water to kill larval mosquitoes. We have found that this alone will not provide adequate control since adult mosquitoes can fly onto your property from elsewhere.
Do you have an organic option to treat for mosquitoes?
- There are some newer bait systems on the market. We have not had much success with those, but will continue to evaluate new products.
Will it hurt the bees?
- We always avoid flowering plants. Pyrethroids are toxic to individual bees, but not a threat to colonies when applied according to the label. They're too fast acting for bees to transfer anything to the colonies. In fact, we never use pyrethroids to kill a colony. It's too repellent and makes them very angry.
