Armadillos and Grubs

If the mulch in your flowerbeds looks like a miniature tractor went through with a tiller and churned everything up, you have armadillos rooting in your flowerbeds at night. There is some information out there saying that the armadillos are rooting for grubs in the soil, so treating the grubs will stop the rooting.  They do root for grubs.  However, they also root for all kinds of other insects and worms as well as many types of plant roots and tubers.  Treating for grubs won't stop the rooting.  Also, the grubs they are feeding on during the spring and early summer would be from last year's egg lay from June bugs.  They would be in the last stages of development and resistant to any insecticide application.   The only solution would be to trap the armadillos.
