Termite Inspection vs WDIR

WDIR stands for Wood Destroying Insect Report.  Most lenders require this report for people buying a house and even in cash purchases, it's a good idea for the buyer to pay for a WDIR.  In Texas, it is customary for the buyer to pay for the WDIR.  There are special provisions in a pest control company's Insurance and License if they perform WDIR's.  Because of this, they are usually priced a little higher than a Termite Inspection that may be done for a homeowner.  WDIR's are usually paid for through the Title Company at closing.  We send the invoices to the title company and they distribute the payment to us. Termite Inspections are done, usually on an annual basis, for homeowners that want to be sure they don't have a termite problem.  There is no home buying or selling involved.  We also don't have to use the State Forms and draw diagrams for a regular Termite Inspection.  We offer an ongoing program that includes an annual inspection for termites and spot treatment of any termites that are found. New clients with existing termite infestations receive a bid for treatment, since the cost is based on the linear footage of perimeter around the house, the difficulty in treatment, and the extent of the infestation.
