Fire Ant Service: Yard
What's Included?
This service includes biannual treatments, one in the spring treatment and one in the fall – with additional spot treatments as needed during the summer. Our method kills the entire colony with an absolute minimal amount of insecticide – less than one ounce per acre.
Our primary method of controlling fire ants is a naturally occurring – and very powerful – insecticide called abamectin, which we use as part of a very effective fire ant bait. Fire ants LOVE our bait and once applied it will kill the entire colony, including the queen. This method also allows us to reduce the cost of our service by using the absolute minimal amount of insecticide possible. In fact, our bait reduces insecticide use by 90% – we only use one ounce of abamectin per acre.
Your yard will be recolonized by harmless, native ants – which will prevent fire ants from returning
How do I know if I have fire ants?
Fire ants can be identified as medium sized tan ants (which resembles a lot of other ants). Their nests are piles of soil that have no visible entry hole. When disturbed they pour out aggressively. String can be slightly painful and leaves an itchy bump that looks like a pimple.
How much is it?
Most yards are $79 plus tax per visit, with 2 visits per year. The service can start as early as April, and the last visit is usually done by October.
One time services are $125 per visit minimum. Larger areas are $89 per acre.
Is there a warranty?
This service should achieve a 90%+ reduction in fire ant mounds between visits. We will return as often as needed between visits, for no additional charge, if those results are not achieved. It usually takes about 10 days after treatment to completely eliminate the fire ants in a treated area. Keep in mind that, even with this service, you may see an occasional fire ant mound. Please call us if you see several mounds or any mound is in a sensitive area.
Do I need to be home?
You do not need to be home for this service. We will email you 3 to 5 days before each service to let you know when we will be there.
How long does it take?
The service takes around 30 minutes.
