What can I do to prevent termites?

While we aren’t worried about termites in our yards or landscaping, we do still need to protect our homes and businesses from invading termites.  Luckily, there are several things we can do.  

• Pre-treatment: State Law requires that all new construction be treated against termites.  This reduces the likelihood that termites will infest the structure.  However, .  
• Annual Inspection:  Termite pre-treatments can and do fail and they can break down over time.  That’s an annual termite inspection is recommended.  Infestations that may occur can be found during an inspection and treated to prevent damage.  Termites damage structures very slowly, so there is no need to inspect more often than once per year.  
• Correct Conducive Conditions: As part of a termite inspection, conditions that can lead to termite infestations or hide termite infestations are identified. Correcting these conditions helps to reduce the chance termites will invade your home or business.
